"No thanks I'm just looking" or merely "I'm just looking" without even saying "hello" back to the sales associate, are the typical answers from shoppers when sales associates desire to happily assist them. Surely, it is understandable that customers want and need their space; nonetheless, understand that sales associates' intention is not to exasperate you; it is to make customers shopping experiences exceptional.
Sales associates are highly trained professionals by stores to assist customers. They possess product knowledge about the areas they are positioned to work in. They are consistently educated about new product knowledge and company policies. The companies do not invest so much money on them for no reason; they are remunerated to help make customers' shopping experiences remarkable. The only reason a sales associate may not be well-informed about the products or company policies is because he or she is newly hired or the associate is working in another area. Furthermore, it is incomprehensible for customers to curse out sales associates; be aware that associates do not make the rules of the company. Neither are they are not exempt from the rules, if anything customers are often treated better than associates are.
No, they are certainly not stupid, unintelligent, uneducated. Countless sales associates are extremely sharp. It is not because they are not smart enough to do other better jobs that cause them to settle for being an associate. It is simply because that is the only job available for them at the moment. Correspondingly, there is no need for customers to condescend sales associates because customers think they have better jobs than them. A lot of them are college graduates unable to find jobs in their field of study, retirees from the corporate world in need of a part-time job, or career workers in need of a second job to make ends meet.
To be honest, sales associates take no pleasure in only greeting and not assisting any customers. Sales associate view customers as the apple of the companies' eyes; therefore, they tolerate the discourteous treatments they receive from shoppers. Next time you go shopping, take advantage of their services politely. Remember, they are compensated to be at your service, make the best of your and their time by allowing them to provide outstanding services to you.
